There goes the affection!

"And then the truth commited suicide." Great line! The truth is supposed to be a pure, sincere, and honest thing and commiting suicide is a dark and wrong thing to do, and the purity clashes with the dark! This mix of right and wrong sends a shiver down my back! The first person view is one thing I'd like to talk about. The author is great in using it to make the story an experience for the reader and not something that is happening to someone else. The author even adds in thoughts! The monologue isn't quite a monologue because it's you who is thinking the thoughts. Raha is always talking about something or wondering this or thinking that and it's great because it makes Raha a person and not a name in the story. Notice how Raha calls her mother 'the woman' in the last sentence of the second to last section? This is a good way to alienate her formerly (and falsely) kind and loving mother. She's not Raha's mother anymore, she's an evil person with a stick, 'the devil', as she is aptly called.

    Just wanted to add on something about the title: almost as awesome as "And then the truth commited suicide." The Assassination of Light. Wow! How's this: it's as if the light is being suffocated by a melting darkness. Also, Raha says as she is lying on the floor, "and half her hair is sleeping on the floor!" Sleeping is a great word choice because it's as if without the blood, nothing would appear to be wrong, just like Raha thought about her mother. Raha was oblivious to everything.

    I agree, the author was very descriptive, but don't you think it was a bit too much? Oh well. I didn't really think about the title but that's a cool observation.

    I like your last point about Raha referring to her mother as 'the woman'. I see how it shows that Raha is no longer 'close' or looks up to her mother anymore.

    I never really thought about the first person point of view thing, it does seem like it's happening to me, or just that I'm experiencing it.
