This short story was very fascinating to me. I was very intrigued in the mischievous donkey seller. It was interesting to me how a man could be so clueless but still make so much money. Even though i was very interested in the donkey seller what interested me the most was the selling of fake antiques to tourists. To make a living the people in the town would take everything out of their houses, create objects out of their house objects, place them underground, and take them out to sell to tourists (looking like antiques). It was pretty amazing how someone can trick people into buying priceless things for so much money by just carving and placing them underground for a few weeks. Personally, even though i think it is fascinating, i believe that is stupid to clear out your house just to make ends meet. The people that make this fake antiques use every last object in their house, till their is not a spoon left just to make enough money to live. I believe that they should keep their house the way it is and try to use materials that they find lying around to make jewelry, clothing and other objects tourists like to buy in foreign countries. By doing this even if their sales don't go so well for a week they still have a roof over their head, beds to sleep in and food to feed themselves. I really enjoyed reading this story as a whole.

I would like to make a couple of comments that ddissagree with yours. First of all how is donkey seller mischevious. If i was in his position i would have sold it for a higher amount and made more money. Thats how bussinesss work you rip people off. How much do you think it costs to make an ipod? If this man was clueless how could he have made a lot of money. In my opinion he was the smartest one in the whole story. He new what the other peasents were doing, and he knew how to make a lot of money. I do agree taht it is amazing that these peasents just place normal items down underground and sell them as antiques. But how is it stupid to clear out your house to make ends meet. You have to understand that if they don't make ends meet, then they wont even have a house.
