A wife for my son

This story is a lot like The assassination story. It seems like in both stories the daughters want to continue going to school to receive a better education, but their parents (mainly their fathers) already matched the daughters up with a man. The daughters didn't have any say in any of the decisions and personally I think getting an education is way more important than getting married. Knowledge will go a lot father than marriage in the long run, but the parents of the daughters in both of the stories don't seem to get that. In both of the stories the girls aren't looking forward to their wedding day. If you get married but you're not happy, then that kills the point of your wedding day. Your wedding day is supposed to be the happiest day in your life, not the worst day in your life. Both stories to me are unfair to the daughters, because the daughters future of being successful is being taken away. Sure, they had some education and in some cases more than an average person in the middle east, but they are not going to get the opportunity to get a better job because they are expected to stay at home and do the chores. The assassination story and The night at the festival are very similar, because in both stories the daughters have no voice and decisions are made for them. This is something I don't agree with, but tradition is tradition and it is very hard to change.
