A Wife for my son... by ELA

A wife for my son is a combo of the last two stories( The Assassination at the rivers flow and the Night at the festival) we read.  The last two stories are both about arranged marriages, and with the Assassination at the rivers flow, Raha, hated the fact that she had to get married, to the point were she wanted to commit suicide. In A wife for my son, the lead character, Fatiha, was so against getting married that she changed her personality. other words, they both know there is no way out of an arranged marraige, so they try to cope. The Night at the festival however, have the main characters parents, who are very understanding about the fact that arranged marriages are a restain on life, and that it is not what the wife and groom want. This story however is a nice interesting mix of the two stories because it shows a women who is beaten down by tradition, but shows women working together to overcome the bad things, and to show that women are always they for each other. sounds cheesy, but its true.  i enjoyed the way the author showed the positive and negative this topic. In The Assassination at the Rivers flow, the author made the point that arranged marriage is horrible beyond words, and in The Night at the fair, the author made the point that arraigned marriage can be called off for reasons, but in this story, it shows that, yes, the women didn't want to get married but they are consoling Faitha with dancing and music, and with love. This story was probably my favorite out of all of the stories we have read. The thing i found interesting, was that the author didn't make the arranged marriage revolve around just the main character, it revolved around pretty much everyone, especially  the little cousin, because at the end the cousins try to arranged a marriage for her, so the cycle continues. I enjoyed this story a ton, i hope we read more stories like this one.
